• Respect and appreciation for other cultures by learning, working and playing in multicultural settings
• Strong thinking and reasoning skills essential in math and science
• Expanded career options with bi-literate and bilingual skills
• Strengthened parent-school partnerships to ensure success for all students.

Dear Parent or Guardian:

In keeping with our school’s mission to ensure that all students achieve their highest level of academic potential and become contributing members of a global society, it is with great pride and excitement that I introduce to you our Spanish Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program.  This Dual Language Immersion program is a unique educational model where children learn to read, write, speak and communicate in two languages: English & Spanish. Native speakers in both languages learn together beginning in Kindergarten and grade levels are added each subsequent school year up to grade 5.

Communication and collaboration in the global marketplace will become increasingly valuable skills for our students as they prepare for college, careers, and citizenship after graduation. I am confident that our amazing DLI teachers will prepare students for this 21st century reality through Dual Language Immersion (DLI).  We are so happy to be a part of the fastest growing language program in the country.  Please explore our website to learn more about the benefits of dual language immersion and for more detailed information about this innovative program and how you can get involved.

I anticipate a most successful year as my team and I support the academic, social, and emotional growth of your child at C.J. Hicks Elementary School.  My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in or call to make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet!  I look forward to working with you and your child.
