What is PBIS? PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies. It is a proactive approach that CJ Hicks uses to improve school safety and promote positive behavior. The focus of PBIS is prevention, not punishment. We teach students positive behavior strategies, just as we teach about any other subject—like reading or math.
According to research, PBIS leads to better student behavior. Students typically receive fewer detentions and suspensions, and earn better grades. There’s also some evidence that PBIS may lead to less bullying.

What is PBIS Rewards?
How does PBIS work?  Students learn basic behavior expectations. The staff members consistently recognize and praise students for good behavior. Students receive PBIS points using PBIS Rewards when they meet expectations as indicated on our RISE Expectations Matrix. With PBIS, the focus is on teaching expectations, preventing problems and using logical consequences.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Support

Parents we need your help. The team here at C.J. Hicks is working hard to acknowledge individual students who meet school wide behavior expectations. At C.J. Hicks we promote and encourage R.I.S.E (Respect, Integrity, Safety and Empathy) behavior. When students meet RISE expectations, they have an opportunity to shop at the C.J. Hicks PBIS store.  We are requesting donations to help build our inventory. Please consider donating to our school store. We are accepting items such as candy, chips, pencils, crayons, markers, notebooks, erasers, toys, pencil pouches etc. We appreciate all your support.
